Our Formulation Philosophy
Every ingredient in the Seluna bundle was selected based on:
- Published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in perimenopausal women
- Safety profile with low contraindication risk
- Doses matching clinically studied amounts — not "proprietary blends" hiding underdosing
- Third-party testing and GMP manufacturing
- Education-first: We tell you exactly what's in it, why the dose matters, and how to use it for best results
What makes Seluna different: Most supplement brands hide behind "proprietary blends" or use doses far below what studies show works. We publish every milligram. Our red clover is dosed at the 80mg threshold shown in meta-analyses to produce clinically significant hot flash reduction. Our ashwagandha follows the 600mg/day protocol used in peri-menopause RCTs — with a cycling schedule to maintain effectiveness. This isn't marketing. It's just what the research says.
The Foundation Bottle
A daily blend of two ingredients for continuous hormonal and sleep support.
Magnesium Glycinate
What it is: A chelated form of magnesium bound to glycine, an amino acid. This form has superior absorption compared to magnesium oxide and is less likely to cause digestive upset.
Seluna dose: 250mg elemental magnesium per day (125mg per capsule, 2 capsules)
Why it's in the bundle:
- Up to 75% of peri-menopausal women are magnesium deficient
- Supports sleep quality and duration (common peri complaint)
- May reduce frequency and severity of hot flashes
- Supports mood regulation and anxiety reduction
- Helps maintain bone density during estrogen decline
Efficacy of magnesium supplementation on insomnia in elderly
Abbasi et al., 2012 — Journal of Research in Medical Sciences
RCT of 46 elderly adults showed magnesium supplementation (500mg/day) significantly improved sleep time, sleep efficiency, and insomnia severity scores compared to placebo.

Red Clover Isoflavones
What it is: A plant extract containing four primary isoflavones — formononetin, biochanin A, genistein, and daidzein — that have weak estrogen-like effects (phytoestrogens). Red clover is unique among phytoestrogen sources because it contains all four major isoflavones, whereas soy primarily contains genistein and daidzein.
Seluna dose: 80mg total isoflavones per day (40mg per capsule, 2 capsules), standardized to aglycone equivalents
Why the exact dose matters:
- Dose-response is real: Meta-analyses show ≥80mg/day produces significantly stronger results than 40mg/day
- At 80mg/day: Weighted mean reduction of 3.63 hot flashes per day vs. placebo (p<0.00001)
- At ≥80mg/day in women with ≥5 hot flashes/day: Up to 44% reduction in hot flash frequency vs. placebo
- Effects emerge at 12+ weeks — this is a slow-acting botanical, not an instant fix
- Contains higher proportion of biochanin A than soy, which may improve efficacy for vasomotor symptoms
Why it's in the bundle:
- Supports a healthy response to occasional hot flashes and night sweats
- Gentler plant-based alternative for women who prefer non-hormonal approaches
- May support cardiovascular markers during the menopausal transition
- Generally well-tolerated with low side effect profile in studies up to 12 months
Effects of a standardised extract of Trifolium pratense at 80mg/day: systematic review and meta-analysis
Phytomedicine, 2017 — 5 RCTs included
Meta-analysis of red clover isoflavones at 80mg/day showed a statistically and clinically significant reduction in hot flush frequency: weighted mean difference 3.63 hot flushes per day (95% CI: 2.70–4.56; p<0.00001) compared to placebo. The 80mg dose was specifically highlighted as the threshold for clinical relevance.

Red clover isoflavones in the treatment of menopausal hot flushes: meta-analysis
Kanadys et al., Nutrients 2021 — 8 RCTs, 10 comparisons
Meta-analysis of all comparisons showed a statistically significant reduction of 1.73 hot flashes per day vs. placebo (95% CI: -3.28 to -0.18; p=0.029). The effect was larger at ≥80mg/day (WMD -2.80 HFs/d) and in women with ≥5 hot flashes per day at baseline (WMD -2.68 HFs/d; p=0.0105).

Red clover isoflavone supplementation vs. vasomotor symptoms (crossover RCT)
Lipovac et al., 2011 — 109 postmenopausal women, 90 days
RCT showed 80mg red clover isoflavones produced a 73.5% reduction in daily hot flush/night sweat frequency, a 72.2% reduction in night sweats, and a 75.4% reduction in overall menopausal intensity (Kupperman Index) — all significantly greater than placebo. After washout and placebo phases, symptoms returned, confirming the active compound's effect.

Promensil 80mg isoflavones vs. placebo for hot flushes
van de Weijer & Barentsen, Maturitas 2002 — 30 women, 12 weeks
Double-blind RCT in women with >5 hot flushes per day showed 44% reduction in hot flushes in the 80mg isoflavone group vs. no further reduction in placebo (P<0.01). Greene Climacteric Scale score decreased 13% in the active group. First 4-week placebo run-in saw 16% reduction (placebo effect), but the active treatment produced additional significant benefit.

The Calm Bottle
A single-ingredient formula that cycles on and off for optimal effectiveness.
Ashwagandha KSM-66
What it is: A full-spectrum extract of Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) root standardized to contain the highest concentration of withanolides. KSM-66 is the most clinically studied ashwagandha extract, with 24+ published clinical trials.
Seluna dose: 600mg per day (300mg per capsule, 2 capsules), taken for 2 months on / 1 month off
Why we cycle it:
- Most clinical trials ran 8-12 weeks — long-term continuous data is limited
- Cycling prevents potential tolerance (receptor desensitization to withanolides)
- Allows your HPA axis (stress response system) to reset and maintain natural resilience
- Ashwagandha can mildly increase T3/T4 thyroid hormones — periodic breaks are prudent for healthy adults
- The 2 months on / 1 month off protocol aligns with clinical study durations while giving your body a reset
- Subscription stays active during off-months — we just pause the Calm bottle and keep the Foundation bottle going
Why it's in the bundle:
- Reduces perceived stress and cortisol levels
- Improves sleep quality in peri-menopausal women
- Supports cognitive function and reduces brain fog
- May improve sexual function and arousal
- Cycling protocol is a trust signal — most brands never mention it

What it is: A barrier-repair serum formulated specifically for skin compromised by hormonal changes during perimenopause.
Seluna formula: Ceramide NP/AP/EOP blend + Hyaluronic Acid (1-2%) + Niacinamide (4-5%)

- Hyaluronic acid increases hydration and reduces fine lines
- Niacinamide reduces inflammation, regulates sebum, strengthens barrier
- Fragrance-free and pH-balanced for sensitive peri skin
- No retinoids, acids, or sensitizing actives that can worsen barrier dysfunction
